Oliver's Story

For those of you who don't know, Oliver came into our lives back in 2003 when our Spring Hill neighbor up and suddenly moved to Washington, leaving Oliver behind to fend for himself. We started feeding him as he wandered back and forth across the street every day wondering where is family had gone. Months past and Oliver was doing fine hanging at our house and being our new baby! Then in January we received a call from the neighbor who moved away! He had called around the neighborhood looking for his cat and found out he was at our house. He was wanting us to fly the cat to Washington. We did think about it, only because he did have children, but when he started calling us at all hours of the day and night threatening us then we had to get the phone company and the police involved! It went on for a while, until I finally called and his wife answered and she did not even know that he was still calling every 10 minutes throughout the night, every night! That was the last we heard from the neighbor! The rest of the story is he had a great life hunting, hanging out outside, being best friends with Zaida, and making biscuits on the fuzzy blankets! He had to have emergency surgery one year due to an awful abscess in his stomach from a cat fight. They cut his stomach wide open from side to side to cleaned out all the infection and then sent him home with us. We did not think he would make it thru. He did! We moved him to the country to our new house at the end of 2006 and he had loved every minute of the country life! When he broke his leg a few years ago, he became somewhat of a night time house kitty, still venturing out in the day. Back in January and February of this year, he become my cuddle buddy while I was down and out with my back. He was stuck to me! The past few months I could tell something was going on but wasn't sure what! He had so enjoyed going out on the porch every morning and would spend the entire day laying out there until I made him come in before dark. The past few weeks I have watched him as I let him out. He would stop and smell the air all around him as if he was enjoying every minute of his little life! This past week has been tough, with the major surgery, his long hospital stay, coming home for a little over a day only to be rushed back, and watching his precious little life slipped away within minutes! He will be missed greatly and it will take our hearts a long time to heal! He was truly very special to us! We love you Oliver (Ollie, The Wong)!
